The Result of the Market Survey*

Evaluation of the survey showed that customers were immediately attracted to the coloured pans. Acceptance among customers is high if the price is right and the coating is branded for quality.Spectacular colours received more positive ratings by the younger and more adventurous target groups. Conservative customers tended to go for familiar hues. One thing is worth noting though: Conservative customers can become quite daring, when an appealing presentation puts their minds into a shopping mood!

However, the final purchase decision, will depend on the quality of the product. The brand image plays a significant role in this process:

Which cookware segment is most likely to be accepted in a coloured version?
Customers and salespersons imagine coloured coatings being launched mainly in the branded mid-price range. This is where they would expect dynamics and innovations coupled with solid pan quality, durability and food safety of the
coloured coating.

* The market survey was conducted in May 2011 by the market research company Objective Consumer Research and Consulting GmbH (Frankfurt, Germany) on behalf of DuPont. Two target groups participated in the survey: Consumers aged 25 to 55, who were planning the purchase of a pan (50% of them young and open-minded, 50 % of them more conservative and traditionalist). Cookware sales staff with a professional track record in specialist shops, convenience stores and department stores.


Hot Chilli

The colour is an eye-catcher. It polarizes opinions; it has funappeal and will stand out in any type of display. Young and adventurous spirits love it. Others might turn up their noses, but one thing is for certain: Hot Chilli leaves no one cold.

“I think the colour is attractive, warm, invigorating. It is an eyecatcher. I can see this colour inside a pitch black pan. The contrast would be spectacular.” (Consumer)

Lavender Blue


Tuscany or Provence: sensual delights, discovering the joy of slowing down. Lavender Blue brings back memories of Mediterranean holidays, pine groves, aromatic spices, sunny days and the art of living.

Experienced salespersons like this colour. It is unusual enough to stand out in the crowd, while its familiarity stimulates the decision to buy. Some consumers even associate the colour with Teflon®.

Champagne Gold


Fine champagne sparkling in a glass is the perfect companion when cooking with your gourmet friends. The act of cooking becomes a celebration of style and taste. Vintage equipment enhances the experience. A little luxury is just part of the game.

This is what market researchers say about Champagne Gold:

This colour is classy. It combines luxury with understatement. Customers associate its high-quality looks with natural elegance. They can easily imagine that the food will look great in this pan and that the colour will enhance their own kitchen design.
